Although I've been lucky enough to go to China and visit many of the things and places mentioned and pictured, this is a spectacular intro for anyone. The author gave just enough info for the reader to want to find out more about this incredible country. The art work is to be commended; I particularly enjoyed the rendering of the Terracotta Warriors that are buried in Xi'an. They were still digging the soldiers, horses and chariots out of the ground -- it was and is an awesome sight. The artist captured the soldiers perfectly. A beautiful book!

"Let Go to China!" China for kids China for Children eBook Tommy Tong Michael Blendermann Reviews
Thank you for this lovely book Mr Tong. We took out our pencils and practiced drawing some of the characters, who new grass was so hard to draw!
My youngest son has always wanted to go to China. After reading this book he wants to go even more. Now we're interested in going there as well.
As an adult, I truly enjoyed reading the book series by Tommy Tong. There is a lot of information given with interesting illustrations. It is an easy way to learn about Asian countries that Americans generally don't know much about.
My eight year old really enjoys learning about other cultures, and she loved all of the books in the Tommy Tong series. We started with Bodhi goes to China, then quickly moved through the others as we learned about Chinese culture and East Asian history. "Let's Go to China" is a must read for those interested in an accessible introduction to Chinese culture and history. Tommy Tong does a remarkable job of relating fascinating stories of other cultures in a way that is engaging and accessible to both children and adults. The books are at a reading level such that a third grader can read them with little to no help, but they are packed full of interesting details and stories that are informative and entertaining to adults as well. The stories in these books served as jumping off point for many interesting discussions about history and culture between me and my child. My daughter loves art, and she thought that the illustrations were beautiful. Each time she turned the page, she would pause for quite a while and take in the art before continuing to read. We have read all of the books in this series and loved them!
Brilliantly written, bright inviting colors, extremely interesting-- I have learned a lot of things I otherwise would not have known! Fascinating culture, seen through the eyes of an expert writer and your own personal "tour guide" through the series! I also have the three first books, and am anxiously awaiting the rest. Since my own "kids" are now grown, I look forward to sharing with my future grandchildren...
This book gives a wonderful glimpse into the colorful culture China with beautiful illustrations, interesting details, educational, and excellent writing. My daughters loved this book and I highly recommend it!
I put the same comment for all 3 books that I got from this author.
So far, I got all the 3 books from this author
- Let's go to China
- Emperors of China
- Bodhi goes to China!
I enjoyed reading these 3 book to my 3-year old son as one of our bedtime stories. My son enjoys the colorful pictures and characters in each page and asks a lot of questions (a typical 3-year old).
Even I am a Chinese, I have learned a lot from these books. These books are informative, but yet simple for kids to understand.
I highly recommend these books to parents and school teachers.
